Rewards in Eden: how XP, gifts and treasures differ

After a quiz or saving a reflection, you may see an update about progress or a reward. XP, gifts and treasures serve different roles, so it helps to tell them apart.
XP records progress
XP means experience points. It belongs to the app’s progress system. Your points do not measure your understanding of the entire Bible or your faith.
When you see an XP award, read it as a record of activity in Eden. Different actions do not necessarily award the same number of points.
A gift is a reward you open
When the app makes a gift available, you can claim it. In the current release, opening it records the awarded XP and can unlock a collectible treasure.
You do not choose a particular item in advance. The mechanism selects from treasures that have not yet been unlocked. Once the collection is complete, there is no further new treasure to add. A gift should therefore not be treated as a promise of a specific item.
A treasure has a name and a description
Treasures are collectible items. Their illustrations and descriptions refer to objects, places or associations connected with the Bible and reading. Here are two examples of original artwork from the Eden project.

Badges have different origins
An initial Eden badge can reflect the choices made during the introduction to the app. It should be distinguished from badges related to later activity. Check each badge’s own description and requirements instead of assuming that every badge depends on the number of correct answers.
Read the description as well as the name
When a reward appears, look at its type, the XP information and the item description. This helps separate a record of progress from a symbolic collectible.
