Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Seweryn Michalak handles information when you use Top Down Weather: Open Sky.
1. Summary
Top Down Weather: Open Sky does not sell personal information, show third-party advertising, or use data for cross-app advertising. The app uses privacy-focused product analytics and uses Apple and RevenueCat to provide and manage optional purchases and subscriptions.
2. Information handled by the app
Location and weather
If you choose “Use My Location”, Open Sky asks iOS for location permission to retrieve a local forecast. You may instead select a place manually. Selected coordinates, place name, location source, forecast cache, and widget data are stored locally in the App Group shared by the app and widget.
Coordinates are sent to Apple Weather/WeatherKit only to request weather data. Open Sky does not send precise coordinates or place names to TelemetryDeck or RevenueCat. Analytics may include the permission outcome and whether a location was selected automatically or manually.
App preferences and local data
Preferences and the content needed to operate the app are stored on your device. They remain there until replaced, cleared, or the app is deleted, subject to normal iOS backup and restore behaviour.
Privacy-focused analytics
Top Down Weather: Open Sky uses TelemetryDeck to understand whether the app works correctly, which features are useful, and how users return to the app over time. Events may include app launches, onboarding progress, feature interactions, app version, build, operating-system and device category, locale, performance, and sanitised error categories.
We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, message contents, precise coordinates, place names, advertising identifiers, or raw error messages to TelemetryDeck. TelemetryDeck receives an app-scoped pseudonymous identifier and limited technical event data. According to TelemetryDeck, IP addresses are not stored. See the TelemetryDeck Privacy Policy.
Purchases and subscriptions
Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive payment-card details. Top Down Weather: Open Sky uses RevenueCat to present offerings, validate purchases, restore purchases, determine entitlement status, and manage subscription access. RevenueCat may process an app user identifier, product and transaction identifiers, purchase history, subscription status, storefront, and related app/device metadata. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat forwards purchase lifecycle events to TelemetryDeck so we can measure paywall performance, trials, purchases, renewals, cancellations, and retention. The app supplies RevenueCat with the TelemetryDeck app identifier and the same pseudonymous, hashed analytics user identifier. This lets the services correlate product events without us sending your name, email address, payment-card details, precise location, or advertising identifier.
Support and feedback
If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and message. We use it to respond, investigate problems, and improve the app. Support correspondence is normally retained for no longer than 24 months after the last interaction unless a longer period is required by law or for legal claims.
Diagnostics
Apple may provide crash reports and diagnostic information depending on your device analytics settings. These reports can include technical information about the device, system, app version, and failure. We use them to improve reliability.
3. Purposes and legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we process information to provide requested app features and purchases (performance of a contract), respond to support requests, maintain security and reliability, understand pseudonymous product usage (our legitimate interests), and comply with accounting, consumer-protection, and other legal obligations.
4. Service providers and international transfers
Relevant providers are Apple Inc. for App Store distribution and platform services, TelemetryDeck GmbH for privacy-focused analytics, RevenueCat, Inc. for purchase infrastructure, and the providers involved when you choose to contact support. Apple and RevenueCat may process information outside your country, including in the United States, using applicable contractual and legal safeguards. TelemetryDeck states that its app analytics infrastructure is hosted in the European Union.
5. Retention and deletion
Local app data remains until replaced, cleared, or the app is deleted. Apple and RevenueCat retain transaction records according to their policies and legal obligations. TelemetryDeck analytics uses a pseudonymous app identifier. We may not be able to identify an event from a name or email address alone, but purchase events can be associated with an app installation. To request access to or deletion of data that can be identified, use our contact form and provide any relevant app or transaction details you are comfortable sharing. We will assess what we can identify and handle the request where applicable, subject to legal retention requirements.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of identifiable information, and to receive portable data. EEA users may complain to their local supervisory authority; in Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
7. Children
Top Down Weather: Open Sky is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including platform-standard encrypted connections. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
9. Changes
We may update this policy when the app, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version and its update date will remain available at this URL.
